Before I was lucky enough to work out of Bobby’s office with my fellow B-Teamers, I was running the front door at his restaurant, Bar Americain, on West 52nd Street in New York City. I got to know the food really well, and of course had MANY favorite items on the Amercain brasserie-style menu. I often go back to eat those perfect mussels in a green chile broth (and will always order extra bread just for dipping), and the crab coconut cocktail. YUM! But I digress…Today I need to tell you about an incredible Bar Americain salad whose recipe I “stole” to contribute to my family Thanksgiving dinner last year.

Thanksgiving: we talk a lot of turkey (or not), but it’s not just about the food. Thanksgiving is about showing gratitude for our good fortune -- and while one way to do that may be over a feast with our family, another is by extending a hand to those who may be less fortunate than we. Why not then take some time this holiday season to express our thanks by volunteering and spreading goodwill?

You could call Harlem's Hot Bread Kitchen the United Nations of Bread. The bakery and incubator of women-run food businesses produces 35 types of bread, from za'atar flatbread and challah to dense German rye and Moroccan m’smen. We visited its East Harlem headquarters early one morning with one particular product in our sights: freshly made corn tortillas. (It is Taco Month, after all.)

Rolling Stone magazine named it the "hot" exercise of 1993 and indoor cycling has maintained its status as one of the most popular group classes at fitness clubs all around the world. I, personally, have been taking Spin classes since 1994 (ummm, I started when I was 10, I swear) when it arrived at my local Equinox in NYC. From the moment I adjusted my seat and handle bars and started pedaling, I was immediately addicted!. Fast forward 21 years, and indoor cycling continues to be more popular than ever and is still a big part of my workout routine (I take classes 3 to 4 times a week.) I am happy to say, it still challenges me and keeps me fit and I love it just as much today as I did the first time I tried it!

Have you seen many out of shape boxers? I haven’t. So, a few weeks ago, I, along with my colleague and fellow B-Teamer, Elyse, headed over to Title Boxing Club located in Hell’s Kitchen to take a boxing class and what we got.well,.pardon the pun…was one Hell of a workout!
Of all sports, boxing is one of the most physically demanding. It requires a blend of power, speed, balance and focus combined with excellent overall conditioning that results in a body that is lean and sculpted. .

Is there anything more boring than walking or running on a treadmill…or as we like to refer to it..the dreadmill! Endless hours of staring at a wall or worse..staring at yourself in a mirror while you listen to your favorite playlist for the hundredth time! We have found a new class that takes your basic gym treadmill and gives it an Extreme Makeover.. Say hello to Fitwalker!

As a New Yorker, my main form of transportation is often my own two feet! Health and fitness are important to me, so I love that I live in a city where getting around is also a way to help me stay fit. There's a great mobile app that I use regularly to keep track of all my city walking and my workouts too.

While San Francisco may be In-N-Out obsessed, New York City is Shack (not Shaq) obsessed. The Shake Shack is a modern day 'roadside' burger stand serving delicious burgers, fries and frozen custard and come rain or come shine New Yorker's (who hate to wait for anything) wait in line for hours to get their burger fix.

In order to eat as many burgers as we want during burger month on bobbyflay.com, we really have to pump up our workout routine..so last week we headed over to The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers to check out the ViPR/TRX Fusion class. We are so glad we did..not just because we can eat more Crunch Burgers but because it is an amazing workout that you will definitely want to check out!!

Since GATO opened, almost two months ago, I've noticed one entree showing up on more tickets than the rest. To be honest, I was a bit surprised that this entree, in particular, was the restaurant's best-seller... mainly because it's 100% vegetarian.
